Company ProfileGreetings. I am Lauree Palmer and I am the owner of The Scottish Piper. I began playing pipes at 13 and I had my first competition on practice chanter in 1979 at Stone Mountain. I was with Invera'an Pipe Band through all of this and continued to compete and made it up to grade 1. Then I was struck with multiple sclerosis and had to put my pipes up for a while.
While I was away from piping, I went to college and received my Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Composition.
My grandparents were from Scotland and my grandfather competed in the world championships in 1925. That year the drummer's came in first and the piper's came in 3rd. I also have two uncles and an aunt that play. My brother is a Scottish snare drummer, my father played bass and tenor drum, my mother and my sister were both highland dancer's. So, I guess I have it in my blood.
The bagpipes have always been really important to me. The only thing that I love almost as much as piping is piping stuff. I always wish that their was a bagpipe shop in St. Louis, so I decided to start one. I am currently running it out of my home, but I hope to, in the near future, have an actual shop.
I now study piobaireachd with Matt Pantaleoni and light music with Chris Apps. They have been a tremendous help.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope your time spent here is rewarding and worthwhile. Stay as long as you like and please come again.
Thank you,
Lauree Palmer
